BUS
It is probably best if as many people book together at the same time, to make sure we can get on the same or similar busses.
Kellie will only need a one way ticket so her price will be 17.50. She intends to be picked up in NYC by her parents.
For the rest of us it will cost $35.00 roundtrip from washington to the Apex stop in China town and back.
For transportation up to NOVA Phil and I will be carpooling. I think its only fair that we both charge for gas. Kelly, Alyssa and Danielle who will ride only to NOVA I think a $5.00 gas fee is reasonable. For Danielle who will ride there and back to richmond $10.00 will be asked.
For Kyle and Julius (I’m not sure what Julius's plans are) I believe you two will be riding from Norfolk then all the way back to Norfolk with Phil. $15.00 each seems a reasonable request. (you guys are all welcome to spend the night at my house instead of driving all the way home wednesday night. But its up to you.
You might want to pack as light as possible. Considering if we arrive in NYC around 9 or 11 am we can not check in until 3 pm. We will be walking around with our things. Then when we check out wednesday we’ll also be walking around until our bus leaves.
If you don’t want to spend on food, bring breakfast snacks we can store in our room.
Lunch will be cheap, a hot dog...or something.
YOU will want to buy waters and liquids. Walking is tiring, do not forego planning to pay for food. You will get hungry, and when people are hungry they are edgy and stressful. We want a happy trip. So plan to EAT!
Packing. Bring a Lock! For the hostel room locker/closet.
Reframe from bringing valuables unless you planning on toting them around the city.
Also, I’m pretty sure parking at the bus station in Washington DC will cost a pretty penny, so include a $5 per person parking fee for the 2 cars.
Metro Card
We will all have to purchase a Metro Subway card. It is the easiest and cheapest way to get around the city. The Metro docks literally right next to our intended Hostel. The 7 day unlimited ride card costs $25.
Itinerary ( sample and subject to change/editing)
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca: Leave ODU Saturday the 8th by Noon
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca: 2:30-3:30 Stop/rest for an hour or so in Richmond at Becca’s and pick up Danielle.
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: Continue on to NOVA. Arrive at Alyssa’s around 6:30pm.
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: Eat, rest. Stay the night? (IDK)
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: If we take the 3:30 am bus, we would leave Alyssa’s house at 2:30 in the morning (idk how traffic is/how long it takes to get there)
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: Arrive around 11 am in China Town NYC.
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: 11:30 am Locate the subway and make our way uptown to our hostel.
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: Predicting subway takes only 30 or so min. We should arrive in upper manhattan near central park where our hostel is around noon. Grab some lunch. Chill/ relax/ taken in the area. Until 3 when we can check in.
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: Rest? The Nintendo store closes at 6pm on sundays. It is 3 miles from our hotel and would be a nice walk through central park , or a short subway ride. Since a majority of our group lists that store high on the to do list, it would be a good first adventure. Then maybe spend the rest of the afternoon at Rockafeller Plaza, watch the ice skaters/site see. Then back to the hostel for a nights rest.
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: Monday morning, for those of us who choose to eat breakfast it be nice to find a cafe we can take in the NYC atmosphere. Then its hard to plan what we’ll do Saturday. Venture around the City, to Times Square, SOHO (for shopping), where ever else. FUN! FUN! FUN!
Phil, Alyssa, Kellie, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: Tuesday we have to check out at 11am. We will check out and hit the subway back towards China Town. We can eat lunch in China Town and venture around China town until time for our bus to leave. (around 5 or so)
Phil, Alyssa,Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: Will be leaving around 5 from China Town. Then taking the bus back to NOVA.
Kellie: Is being picked up by her parents? Hopefully we can arrange it so she is picked up before we are scheduled to leave, that way we can make sure she is safely taken home. I think it might be easier on everyone if she was able to take a separate bus to Philly, but that’s just my impute. Its up to her and her parents.
Phil, Julius, Kyle, Becca, Danielle: From NOVA we will ride down to Richmond. Danielle will go home. The boys are invited to spend the night at my house, b/c it will be late. And everyone will be tired I’m sure.
Phil, Julius, Kyle: I’m not completely sure what Julius’s plans are. I think he’s going home with Kyle. But I’m not sure yet. Nevertheless they will ride with Phil back to Norfolk. Completing the trip.
